Our next Barrett PTA meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 7 at 6:00 p.m. (please note the earlier time). Arlington School Board Member Tannia Talento has agreed to attend our meeting to discuss the Arlington Public School (APS) Elementary School Planning and Boundary Process. We hope that you make every effort to attend this important PTA meeting to show that the Barrett community is fully engaged on the issue and to raise our concerns with APS' consideration of two proposals - referred to as "Proposal 1" and "Representative Boundary Scenario".
In general, we oppose both proposals because they:
- Disrupt the balanced diversity of Barrett
- Make Barrett less walkable
- Split our school community
Attached is a flyer (including Spanish translation) that went home with your child through backpack mail to provide additional information on the issue.
In addition to attending our next PTA meeting, we hope that you take a moment to respond by this Wednesday, December 18, APS' survey on this issue (Click: https://www.apsva.us/engage/planning‐for‐2020‐elementary‐school‐boundary‐process/ and select "New Questionnaire: Share Your Input on the Elementary School Planning Process").
We look forward to seeing many of you at the next PTA meeting. As the meeting will be held around dinner time, we will provide food and child care during the meeting.
