Thank you to everyone who attended last night's PTA meeting with APS Board Chair Tannia Talento. We had a great turnout - showing APS and Ms. Talento that we are fully engaged as a community on this issue. I think Ms. Talento provided an honest assessment on the process, while also giving us some guidance on how to continue to best advocate for our school community.
Whether or not our boundaries will be changed, I'm proud of our effort throughout this process - submitting a letter raising our concerns, responding to APS surveys, attending forums, hearings, and meetings (and posing important questions for APS to consider), and having Ms. Talento and APS address our community. I believe we have impressed upon APS our concerns with any disruption boundary changes would have on Barrett and our balanced diversity, walkability, and our community in general.
Again, thank you for attending last night's meeting and being engaged with the PTA and our community. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions on this issue (or any other issue). After the meeting, several parents talked to us and shared their personal stories (and concerns) - which was much appreciated as it helps inform our continued efforts to advocate for the Barrett community.
