Through three rounds of distribution, we have distributed $30,750 worth of grocery gift cards - along with books, dental kits, and school supply kits - to Barrett families since early April. For our next distribution in July, we will be distributing cleaning and hygiene products, along with diapers and wipes. For this effort, we have partnered with the Arlington Community Corps (ACC), an initiative to assist PTAs and other organizations providing support to families throughout Arlington.

Amazon Wish List
We have put together an Amazon Wish List, which includes cleaning and hygiene products, available here:
Please consider purchasing items on the wish list and/or posting and sharing the wish list with friends and family (ACC has already shared the list to their members). Alternatively, you can purchase the items and arrange for drop-off or us to pick it up from you. The Wish List generally consists of the following items:
- Liquid hand soap
- bars of soap
- dish soap
- toilet paper
- baby shampoo/kids shampoo
- adult shampoo/conditioner
- deodorant (both men's and women's)
- Feminine pads
- liquid laundry detergent
- all purpose cleaner (fabuloso, pine-sol etc...)
- Powder bleach cleaner (Ajax, comet etc...)
- Adult Toothpaste
Identifying Barrett Families in Need
Attached is a flyer/form (in English and Spanish) that we have sent out through various forms of communication to reach as many Barrett families as possible. If you know of families that would be interested in receiving our next distribution, please send it to them.
It is extremely important that 1) as many Barrett families as possible receive this flyer and 2) we receive a response from any Barrett family who would like to receive this distribution. The deadline for the responses is this Friday, June 19, which will give us time to make sure we have enough products (and the appropriate product for each family) for distribution in early July.

Other Ways to Help
Collecting Brown Paper Bags - The easiest way to help for now is to start collecting brown paper bags with handles (assuming that we will need two bags per family, we will need at least 300 paper bags for next distribution). So, next time you're at the grocery store, ask for paper and not plastic. From my experience, Harris Teeter has the best ones with handles (and they usually double bag for you).
Donating to the Barrett PTA - As we can now spend from PTA funds (since our distribution now includes items and products that are not gift cards), we hope that you will donate to the Barrett PTA. You can do so online or send a check (made out to "Barrett PTA"):

Update on Our Effort to Help Barrett Families
Since we began our effort to help Barrett families in early April, we have received a total of $36,834 in monetary and gift card donations, including:
- $18,700 in grocery gift card donations (for Harris Teeter, Giant, Safeway, and a few for Target);
- $18,134 in monetary donations
- $8,350 in April (128 distributed on April 8; 39 were mailed);
- $11,150 in May (203 distributed on May 6; 20 were mailed);
- $11,250 in June (211 distributed on June 9; 14 were mailed).
