Yesterday, we distributed turkeys and produce bags - which included squash, cauliflower, bell peppers, collard greens, lettuce, apples, sweet potatoes, onions and radishes - to 160 Barrett families.
-- The distribution was funded by your donations to our Barrett PTA and made possible with the support of Barrett parents, Gabe and Katherine Thompson (of Thompson Italian restaurant), and FRESHFARM. In addition, we had many volunteers (including many teachers) yesterday who helped unload the turkey and produce trucks, put together the produce bags (160 bags in 45 minutes!), and distribute the produce and turkeys to our families.
Thank you to EVERYONE for continuing to make our distribution effort possible over the past seven months.
County-wide PTA Effort to Support the Next Distribution in December
For the next distribution, our county PTA, the Arlington County Council of PTAs (CCPTA), is leading an initiative to raise funds that will provide produce through FRESHFARM to all the PTAs that have been involved with distribution efforts to support families. To help support seven local PTAs, including Barrett, and approximately 900 Arlington families, this fundraising effort has a goal of raising $20,000 from the entire Arlington community.
