[KWPTA] Fwd: Information on Rental Assistance from Arlington County

Please pass along the information below from Arlington County to any families that need help with rental or mortgage (or food) assistance. 

The County Board accepted $450,000 in state funding to help Arlington residents who have lost income due to the COVID-19 pandemic pay their rent or mortgage. The County is distributing the funding now, through the Department of Human Services. Any Arlington resident who believes they may qualify should call DHS at (703) 228-1300 for more information.

In addition to the Spanish translation below, the attached flyer includes multiple translation informing Arlington residents to contact DHS for assistance.

La Junta del Condado aceptó $ 450,000 en fondos estatales para ayudar a los residentes de Arlington que han perdido ingresos debido a la pandemia de COVID-19 para pagar su renta o hipoteca. El Condado está distribuyendo los fondos ahora, a través del Departamento de Servicios Humanos. Cualquier residente de Arlington que crea que puede calificar debe llamar al DHS al 703-228-1300 para obtener más información.

Board Accepts More State, Federal COVID-19 Funding

The Arlington County Board today accepted $450,000 in state funding to help Arlington residents who have lost income due to the COVID-19 pandemic pay their rent or mortgage.

"This funding can be a lifeline for many Arlingtonians who lost their jobs months ago and have not yet seen those jobs come back," County Board Chair Libby Garvey said. "This funding is an acknowledgement by the state that people need help if we are going to avoid a wave of evictions and foreclosures in the coming months."

The funding is retroactive to March 1, 2020 and will extend through the end of 2020. The County is distributing the funding now, through the Department of Human Services. Any Arlington resident who believes they may qualify should call DHS at 703-228-1300 for more information. To read the staff report on this item, visit the County website.
