As the coronavirus pandemic spreads throughout many of our communities, we are aware that many school and community events have been – and will continue to be – canceled or postponed. We wanted to let you know that we are closely monitoring the situation and most importantly, will adhere to guidance provided to us by federal, state and local governments.
Many school districts are considering extended closures that obviously will have an impact beyond just regular school activities. (Please note that as a PTA, we do not have any insight on any APS decisions – nor do we expect to be engaged by APS on this issue.) In addition, while many Arlington school PTAs have already canceled or postponed events that have been scheduled over the next few weeks, others are moving forward with scheduled activities. Needless to say, decisions on cancelation, postponement, or moving forward with events are not made lightly.
With our Spring Auction and Social less than two months away (currently scheduled for Saturday, April 25), we are aware that we may need to make a decision on either canceling or postponing the event – or at the least, changing the format of the auction.
The PTA board will meet soon to discuss options and backup plans – we will keep you apprised as decisions are made.
